Melanie Winter to serve as SOY’s interim executive director

June 9, 2023 – Support Ontario Youth (SOY) announced Melanie Winter will serve as interim executive director.

“I firmly believe that it is our responsibility to ensure that all Ontarians have access to quality training and employment opportunities, and I’m committed to doing just that,” said Winter, who initially joined SOY with over 20 years of experience in the industrial and manufacturing sectors.

The daughter of an automotive service technician and high school transportation teacher, SOY says Winter has made great strides in the effort to help more apprentices, employers, and industry partners, “with an emphasis on bringing stakeholders together to find creative solutions to alleviate the skilled trades shortage”.

Support Ontario Youth is a registered charity that works with apprentices, employers, and industry stakeholders to identify gaps in apprenticeship learning and training, and help those directly involved by supporting, mentoring, and guiding their efforts to help streamline and modernize the trade pathways.
