November 25, 2021 – In partnership with Support Ontario Youth, BOLT is awarding a total of $1500 worth of scholarships (3 x $500) and mentorship to female apprentices in construction trades that reside within the Greater Toronto Area.

Besides the financial support of $500 for classroom training costs, BOLT Women in Construction scholarship recipients also benefit from an assigned female mentor from their own (or similar) trade to help provide additional support, and share experiences and advice for advancing in the industry.

Requirements

• Female apprentice with an active Registered Training Agreement (RTA).

• Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades (OCOT)

• 17-29 years old, and a resident of the GTA.

• Can demonstrate a financial need via Notice of Assessment, recent social assistance stub, or recent pay stub.

The scholarship is open to all who meet the above criteria, with preference given to first- and second-year apprentices.

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2021. The successful applicants will be announced in January 2022.

BOLT was launched by Tridel in 2009, and established as a charitable foundation in January 2013. It works to “create awareness about the diverse and numerous career opportunities in the construction industry”.

SOY’s mission is to “support apprentices, employers, and all stakeholders in the skilled trades industry by streamlining and simplifying the apprenticeship journey”.
