Krista L. Barfoot, Ph.D., C.Chem., QPRA, has joined Stantec’s environmental services team as senior scientist.

Based in Waterloo, Ont., Barfoot will lead the delivery of brownfield risk assessments (RAs) across the province, while also sharing the engineering firm’s emerging contaminants expertise globally, with a focus on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs).

“With the addition of Krista, we strengthen a solid team and increase our capacity to deliver for our clients,” says Dave Sauve, Stantec’s vice-president (VP) and regional leader for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Barfoot has over 23 years’ industry experience, including more than 15 in strategic site planning, RAs, vapour intrusion (VI) assessments and risk management. Her technical expertise covers emerging contaminants (including PFASs), excess soil management and non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs).

“I’m excited to join Stantec,” she says. “I look forward to building and enhancing communities by bringing innovative solutions and thought leadership to today’s challenges.”
