There has never been a better time to get involved!

ABOUT GINA: Gina Parvaneh Cody is a Canadian-Iranian engineer and business leader with more than 30 years of professional practice in the private sector providing professional engineering services to some of Canada’s largest real estate investment trusts, financial institutions, builders and developers.

After moving to Canada in 1979, she attended Concordia University, where she completed her Master’s in Engineering in 1981. In 1989, Cody became the first woman in the university’s history to earn a Ph.D. in building engineering.

In September 2018, Concordia became the first Canadian university with an engineering faculty named after a woman: the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science.

In December 2020, Cody was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada “For her long-standing career as an engineer and business leader, and for being a trailblazer for women in the field”.

“The goal is that in 10 to 15 years there will be so many examples like me that I am forgotten,” Cody said in 2018. “I hope there will be so many women in science, engineering and technology that it’s no longer an issue… that it becomes the norm.”
