January 3, 2023 – Electrical Business Magazine has learned that Laura Bishop Lyke, president and CEO of ICC International, passed away December 27 following a sudden cardiac event on December 16.

From ICC International’s LinkedIn post:

“Laura is best described as a strong-willed, visionary leader, whose bravery, loyalty, creativity, and resilience were matched by her business acumen, her determination and, above all, her passion for her own family, her work family, and her community.”

ICC manufactures commutators and slip rings for industrial applications. The company was founded in 1983, and Lyke took ownership in 2003.

“[Laura] was determined to make the DC motor industry stronger by building the best commutators and slip rings in the world,” continues ICC. “Laura knew that success depends on all ICC employees, and she never failed to give them her unwavering support, which extended to their families, and to the overall community.”

In 2022, ICC won the Pinnacle Business Award for Woman-Owned Business Excellence, and the company was also honoured by Inc. 5000 as one of America’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2020. In 2019, ICC was recognized with the Best of Blount Award for Small Business of the Year.

“We are heartbroken by Laura’s passing. She leaves big, yet stylish, shoes to fill. While this is a tremendous loss, the ICC team pledges to carry on Laura’s legacy, grow this business and continue delivering on ICC’s long-standing commitments to excellence.”
